As you are all aware, on Friday 11 March 2011 Japan was hit by a devastating earthquake, tragically resulting in one of the worst natural disasters in recent times. We are sending our thoughts and condolences to all those affected by the recent tragic events. Thankfully, all of our team members have been accounted for in the wake of this disaster.
Servcorp will be sending all support necessary to ensure the smoothest operations possible for our clients and team members, and will be establishing a fund to support victims throughout this difficult time.
A Message from Servcorp's CEO Alf Moufarrige:
Japan is my second home.
To see your beautiful country and its people terrified and to watch the Tsunami rip villages, cities and towns apart made me wish I was there to support you.
I pray for Japan and pledge that we here at Servcorp will remain firm supporters of your country.
All April initial rental payments from new sales across the globe will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross Society. I estimate this will total JPY10 million and I will personally add a further JPY2 million.
Money will not ease the suffering only the resolve and unity of the Japanese people will. I know their strength.
I look forward to returning to Tokyo and adding support to the healing process.
